£25,000 APPEAL TO KEEP JURASSIC STEAMING

An appeal to raise £25,000 to keep the historic locomotive Jurassic steaming on the Lincolnshire Coast Light Railway in Skegness has been launched. Please scroll down to see how you might help. With your help we can secure "Jurassic`s" future in steam in Lincolnshire.

In 2027, the 1903-built locomotive will need to undergo an examination which involves lifting the boiler out of the frames and then replacing the boiler tubes (which take the heat from the fire through the water in the boiler, to produce the steam which powers the locomotive). It’s a statutory requirement which applies to all steam locomotives – those running on privately owned railways, such as the LCLR, or on Network Rail’s main lines.

Donations can be made by BACS directly to the appeal account at RBS sort code 162028 acc. no. 11154239

Or by cheque made out to LCLRHVT and sent to LCLRHVT c/o Skegness Water Leisure Park, Walls Lane, Ingoldmells, Skegness PE25 1JF, please mark the envelope Jurassic appeal.

We can claim gift aid on your donations and forms are available from our membership secretary Geoff Hankin at glhankin36@hotmail.co.uk

Once again, thankyou to all of our donors

It’s expected that the specialist work, including re-tubing the boiler and any remedial work found necessary by the examination – will be carried out by contractors. Other tasks such as dismantling, reassembly and repainting will carried out by the Trust’s volunteers.
